Special Section: The Problem of Private Data in Education Research: Some researchers prefer to publish studies based on data they keep secret, unidentified. Such studies and the recommendations based on them may persist forever unchallenged. They are non-replicable, non-falsifiable. Debates are diffused because only the study authors have access to the study data. Occasionally, however, skeptical critics may pierce the veil of secrecy through intrepid investigations of their own:
